Checkr, a startup based in San Francisco, has introduced a new initiative called “vibe coding”, aimed at enabling employees from various departments to create business applications and automate their tasks without needing coding skills. This launch, which occurred on Saturday, is designed to boost productivity among staff in areas such as HR, finance, and legal.
CEO Daniel Yanisse reported that a remarkable 95% of employees are now using AI tools daily after the company provided a monthly stipend for AI tool experimentation and hosted dedicated AI days. Checkr is currently testing several AI development platforms, including Lovable and Cursor, to support this initiative. Lovable is noted for its user-friendliness, while Cursor has appealed to both technical and non-technical employees.
To assist in this new venture, Checkr has brought on AI solution engineers who guide employees through challenges, ensuring successful project outcomes. Discussions surrounding vibe coding have raised questions about its potential effects on innovation and productivity. Further insight from Bret Taylor, board chair of OpenAI, suggests a movement towards autonomous AI agents that could ultimately replace traditional software applications.
