In March, Apple is set to unveil a new low-cost MacBook featuring the A18 Pro chip, which is derived from the iPhone 16 lineup. This device aims to attract budget-conscious consumers with a projected price of approximately $699, significantly lower than the $999 MacBook Air, though discounts on the latter often bring its price down to around $849.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the upcoming model will showcase a display measuring slightly under 13 inches, with prior indications suggesting it could be around 12.9 inches. Rather than adopting a plastic design for cost savings, Apple has developed a new aluminum shell manufacturing process that enhances production efficiency.
The new MacBook will also introduce unique color options, including light yellow, light green, blue, pink, classic silver, and dark gray, although final selections have yet to be disclosed. This development comes amidst other Apple rumors, focusing on the upcoming M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pros and redesigned OLED models.
